Emiliano Sala plane crash: Footballer was 'let down' by Cardiff
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47406109
Says Sala's agent's dad.

Nothing to do with the money his son won't be getting then??

This situation is going to turn into a feeding frenzy.

McKay is right. Cardiff have been disgraceful and have been trying to make a scapegoat instead of accepting all this as a terrible tragedy.

Such poor, unfortunate victims.....

the Mackays.

I would assume that they would owe not only the transfer fee, but his estate the full contract value too - an expensive accident that

There will be a clause in the contract for death. Sadly most lawyers consider every contingency. I'd imagine there's no wages to pay as the other party has voided the contract by dying, unless there is a specific clause paying them up in the event of death

They may have, however, paid the signing on fee

He 'may' not have been insured properly.

"Let down"? Seriously?

The way they are carrying on blaming everybody else in this tragedy and it is nothing to do with them! Are the Mackays scousers?

Not sure I like the way they are picking over the bones of the lost pilot almost like it's solely his fault. Saying he wasn't licensed and didn't finish his training. Must be horrible for the family.
I still can't understand why you would put a multi-million pound player on a lightweight prop plane. Whoever did that was a total cheapskate.

There are some complete wankers on here!

The poor McKays are totally innocent and for your information Mr McKay senior said they weren’t even going to ask Nantes for the £1.5m they are owed.

Yet. 😂😂😂

Yes he genuinely said they weren’t going to pursue it......yet.

It's up to the paying passenger to make sure that everything is in order with regard so the pilot.

Bit late now, but he had plenty of chances to walk away from this situation before the plane took off Having limited knowledge of English would have played no part in any concern he had.

Extremely reckless on all parties to have allowed this to happen.

Astounding, isn't it? How can he think that's in any way admirable?!?

I thought he was let down by the plane engine or pilot

Far Cough 12:34 Sat Mar 2
Re: Emiliano Sala plane crash: Footballer was 'let down' by Cardiff
Oxsaw, he wasn't a paying passenger and in any case, is he supposed to ask him does he have a licence and is the plane airworthy? No this was arranged FOR him

Far Cough 12:34 Sat Mar 2

Still doesn't absolve him of all responsibility - it was him getting in the plane, not those who "arranged" the flight.

Far Cough 2:21 Sat Mar 2
Re: Emiliano Sala plane crash: Footballer was 'let down' by Cardiff
So when you travel by air, do you knock on the cockpit door and ask do both pilots have their credentials up to date and has the plane got a current airworthy certificate?

No of course not, lets be fair you are an idiot, so to be expected really

eusebiovic 2:23 Sat Mar 2
Re: Emiliano Sala plane crash: Footballer was 'let down' by Cardiff
The person who organized the flight needs to ensure the pilot is qualified and the aircraft is suitable for the planned journey

Whether they like it or not that is McKay and his son - they didn't do their due diligence

Maybe Cardiff should have overridden any arrangement by the agent and got him on a scheduled flight but the fact remains they were not responsible for the actual flight.

The McKays are in the shit for a very good reason

Simple

Far Cough 2:26 Sat Mar 2
Re: Emiliano Sala plane crash: Footballer was 'let down' by Cardiff
eusebiovic, yes and that is maybe why McKay is not going after his cut, he's blaming Cardiff

Crassus 2:27 Sat Mar 2
Re: Emiliano Sala plane crash: Footballer was 'let down' by Cardiff
Fail to see how a young lad taking a flight should be responsible for validating air worthyness and the pilots credentials

I have however, had a mental note around this case from the original thread. A poster on there appeared accutely aware of aspects of the case not in the public domain and implied that more would be revealed in time. Further, his family made some rather unusual comments too

This whole sad episode just does not add up on so many levels
